Sodium Pyrithione (CAS 3811-73-2) is a high-efficiency, broad-spectrum, low-toxicity water-soluble antibacterial, antifungal, and preservative agent. It is widely used in daily chemicals as a key anti-dandruff ingredient in shampoos and body washes (max 0.5% concentration) to inhibit Malassezia growth. In industry, it serves as an antifungal preservative in metalworking fluids, latex paints, adhesives, and leather/textile products to prevent microbial spoilage. In pharmaceuticals, it acts as an intermediate for antifungal drugs and a disinfectant component.
