Applications
This compound is an important substituted benzonitrile intermediate containing bromo, methyl and cyano groups on benzene ring, with high chemical activity for cross-coupling, hydrolysis, reduction and cyclization reactions. It is widely used in organic synthesis as key building block for Suzuki, Buchwald-Hartwig and Sonogashira coupling reactions to construct multi-substituted aromatic compounds and fused heterocyclic skeletons. In pharmaceutical industry, it is extensively applied in the synthesis of anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and neurological drug intermediates, as well as kinase inhibitors and small molecule targeted drug candidates.
In agrochemical field, it serves as raw material for high-efficiency fungicides, herbicides and pesticide intermediates with stable biological activity. It is also used in fine chemicals, organic photoelectric materials, liquid crystal intermediates and dye synthesis, meanwhile commonly adopted in laboratory synthetic methodology research and customized fine chemical production.
Safety Information
This substance is irritating to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Direct skin contact may cause redness, itching and mild inflammatory reaction; long-term repeated exposure may induce skin sensitization and allergic dermatitis. Eye contact leads to severe stinging, conjunctival congestion and tearing, needing immediate thorough rinsing with plenty of running water. Inhalation of dust irritates nasal and bronchial mucosa, causing throat dryness, cough and chest discomfort, especially harmful to people with respiratory allergies. Accidental ingestion may cause nausea, stomachache and other mild gastrointestinal symptoms.
It presents certain toxicity risk to aquatic organisms and must not be discharged into water bodies and soil. During handling, operate in ventilated fume hood, wear nitrile protective gloves, chemical safety goggles and dust mask. Keep away from high temperature, open flame and strong oxidants. Store sealed, dry and away from light. Waste residues and empty containers shall be disposed strictly according to hazardous chemical waste regulations to prevent environmental pollution and hidden health hazards.
