Applications
4-Methoxypyridine is an important pyridine heterocyclic fine chemical intermediate with methoxy substitution at the 4-position of pyridine ring. It has high chemical activity, readily participating in substitution, condensation, salt formation and coupling reactions, widely used for the construction of multi-substituted pyridine derivatives and fused heterocyclic molecular skeletons in organic synthesis.
In pharmaceutical industry, it is a key raw material for synthesizing anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, nervous system and cardiovascular drug intermediates, also used in the preparation of pharmaceutical molecular fragments and small-molecule targeted drug building blocks. In agrochemical field, it serves as intermediate for high-efficiency fungicides, herbicides and insecticides. Additionally, it is commonly used as organic synthesis catalyst, pharmaceutical excipient raw material, laboratory analytical reagent and custom heterocyclic compound synthesis.
Safety Information
This product is irritating and slightly toxic to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Direct skin contact may cause redness, stinging and allergic irritation; prolonged contact leads to skin degreasing and dryness. Liquid splashing into eyes causes severe stinging, conjunctival congestion and tearing, requiring immediate rinsing with plenty of running water. Inhalation of vapor irritates nasal cavity and throat, causing cough, dizziness and respiratory discomfort. Accidental ingestion may induce nausea, abdominal pain and gastrointestinal irritation.
Toxic to aquatic organisms, forbidden direct discharge into water and soil. Operate in well-ventilated fume hood, wear chemical resistant gloves, goggles and protective mask. Keep away from high temperature, open flame and strong oxidants. Store tightly sealed away from light to prevent oxidation discoloration. Waste liquid and packaging shall be disposed strictly per hazardous chemical waste regulations.
