Applications
Sodium sulfide nonahydrate is an important inorganic sulfide raw material, widely used in leather tanning industry for depilation and deliming treatment. It is commonly applied in mineral flotation as a sulfide ore regulator and collector auxiliary. Also used in textile dyeing, paper pulping, wastewater treatment for heavy metal precipitation removal, and as raw material for the synthesis of sulfur dyes, rubber additives and other fine chemicals. It also plays an essential role in chemical production for preparing sulfur compounds, thiosulfates and various sulfide intermediates. In electroplating industry, it is used for surface treatment and impurity removal of metal plating solution. It can also be applied in photographic chemical raw materials, ore smelting auxiliary agents and industrial cleaning formulations, with wide coverage in light industry, chemical industry, environmental protection and metallurgy fields, and has stable market demand in downstream fine chemical synthesis and industrial auxiliary production.
Safety Information
Corrosive to skin, eyes and respiratory tract, releases toxic and irritating hydrogen sulfide gas when reacting with acid. Inhalation may cause poisoning, skin contact will cause corrosion and burns. Avoid contact with acid, oxidants and direct exposure to air. Operate in ventilated place with protective gloves, goggles and respirator. Keep sealed storage, strictly follow hazardous chemical handling regulations, and properly dispose of waste liquid and residues. The dust and aqueous mist of this substance can severely irritate nasal mucosa, throat and lung tissues, and long-term unprotected exposure may lead to chronic respiratory discomfort and mucosal damage. Once splashed on skin or eyes, immediate flushing with plenty of clean water is required for at least 15 minutes, and medical treatment should be sought in time if burning pain persists. It is incompatible with strong acids, strong oxidants and halogen substances, and mixed storage and mixed transportation are strictly prohibited to prevent violent chemical reaction, gas leakage and explosion risk.
