Applications
Phenylbutazone is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with strong anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and uricosuric effects. It is widely used in human and veterinary medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and acute rheumatic pain. It also relieves postoperative pain, traumatic swelling and inflammatory symptoms. In veterinary field, it is commonly used for equine, bovine and canine inflammatory diseases and fever relief. It serves as a key pharmaceutical raw material and intermediate for the synthesis of other anti-inflammatory derivative compounds, also applied in pharmaceutical formulation research and fine chemical raw material supply.
Safety
This substance may cause skin irritation, serious eye irritation and respiratory tract irritation if inhaled or contacted. Long-term oral exposure may lead to gastrointestinal discomfort, renal burden and hematological adverse reactions. Avoid inhalation of dust, direct skin and eye contact. Use chemical resistant gloves, safety goggles and dust respirator during handling. Store sealed in cool, dry, dark and well-ventilated warehouse, keep away from oxidants, strong acids and food raw materials. In case of eye or skin contact, rinse immediately with plenty of running water for several minutes. Ingestion requires immediate medical treatment. Waste shall be disposed of in accordance with local chemical waste regulations, do not discharge directly into sewer or water environment.
