Applications
4-Vinylbenzyl chloride is a high-value functional monomer and fine chemical intermediate containing both vinyl and benzyl chloride reactive groups. It is widely used in polymer material synthesis, resin modification, ion exchange resin preparation and organic synthetic chemistry. The double bond can participate in polymerization and copolymerization reactions, while benzyl chloride group can undergo nucleophilic substitution, cross-linking and graft modification. It is the key raw material for the synthesis of anion exchange resins, chelating resins, adsorbent resins and polymer microspheres. Also applied in pharmaceutical intermediates, organic catalyst carriers, coating additives and electronic material modification. It is commonly used in laboratory custom synthesis, industrial polymer scale-up production and new functional material research and development.
Safety
Causes severe skin corrosion and serious eye damage. Vapor may cause respiratory tract irritation, coughing and throat discomfort. Inhalation or skin absorption may lead to toxic reactions. The product has strong irritation and corrosiveness, easy to produce toxic and irritating fumes under heating. Must be operated in fume hood with acid-proof gloves, splash-proof goggles and gas respirator. Keep away from fire, heat source and direct sunlight to avoid auto-polymerization and decomposition. Store sealed with nitrogen protection in cool, dry, dark and ventilated place, separated from oxidants, alkaline substances and food chemicals. In case of skin or eye contact, rinse with plenty of running water for more than 15 minutes and seek medical treatment immediately. Waste liquid and contaminated packaging shall be treated as hazardous corrosive waste, strictly prohibited from direct discharge into sewer, soil and water body.
