Main Uses
Fluorescein sodium is a classic fluorescent dye and analytical reagent with strong fluorescence property under ultraviolet light, widely used in biochemical analysis, medical diagnosis, water quality detection and industrial dyeing fields. It is commonly applied as a fluorescent indicator for complexometric titration and adsorption indicator in chemical analytical laboratories. In medical industry, it is used for ocular fundus angiography, corneal staining and auxiliary diagnosis of eye diseases due to its obvious coloring and fluorescence effect on tissue fluid. It also serves as a tracer agent for underground water flow detection, pipeline leakage inspection and environmental hydrological tracing. Besides, it can be used in the preparation of fluorescent pigments, cosmetic coloring raw materials and biological staining reagents for microbial and cell microscopic observation, possessing stable coloring performance and high detection sensitivity in various application scenarios.
Safety Information
This substance may cause mild irritation to skin, eyes and respiratory tract under direct contact. Skin contact may lead to slight redness and itching, especially for sensitive skin groups; splashing into eyes will cause stinging, tearing and conjunctival hyperemia. Inhalation of fine dust may irritate nasal and throat mucosa and cause slight cough and discomfort. Accidental excessive oral intake may cause temporary gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and abdominal distension. During operation, operators need to wear dust-proof masks, chemical resistant gloves and protective goggles, maintain good ventilation in the workplace and avoid dust floating. It should be stored in a sealed, dry, cool and dark environment, isolated from strong oxidants and acidic substances. Waste materials and contaminated packaging shall be disposed of in accordance with hazardous chemical waste regulations, and direct discharge into domestic sewage and natural water bodies is prohibited to avoid affecting water environment and aquatic organism growth.
