Main Uses
Anhydrous aluminum bromide is a strong Lewis acid catalyst, widely used in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical fine chemicals, dye and fragrance industry. It is commonly applied in Friedel-Crafts alkylation, acylation, isomerization, polymerization and condensation reactions. It serves as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates, pesticide molecules, organic dyes and synthetic fragrances. Also used as a raw material for preparing other bromide salts, as a catalyst for petroleum cracking and resin curing, and as a chemical reagent for laboratory organic synthetic research.
Safety Information
Highly corrosive and hygroscopic, irritant to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Contact with skin causes burns and irritation; eye contact may lead to severe corneal damage. Inhalation of dust or fume irritates nasal cavity, throat and bronchus, causing coughing and chest discomfort. Reacts violently with water releasing corrosive fumes. Must wear acid-resistant gloves, chemical goggles and dust respirator, operate in fume hood. Keep tightly sealed, moisture-proof, stored in dry cool place, isolated from water, alkali and oxidants. Residues and packaging are hazardous waste; strictly prohibit random discharge.
