Applications
2-Amino-5-methylpyridine is an important substituted pyridine heterocyclic intermediate, widely used in pharmaceutical synthesis, agrochemicals, organic synthesis and fine chemical industry. It has active amino and methyl groups on the pyridine ring, which can undergo diazotization, coupling, acylation, alkylation and condensation reactions for constructing various nitrogen-containing heterocyclic skeletons. It is a key raw material for the synthesis of anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and central nervous system drug intermediates. Also used in the preparation of pesticide fungicides, herbicides and plant growth regulators. Additionally, it is commonly used as a ligand raw material, organic synthetic building block and chemical reagent for laboratory research and customized fine chemical development.
Safety Information
This pyridine derivative has mild irritancy and low acute toxicity. Inhalation of dust or vapor may irritate respiratory tract, causing sore throat and cough. Skin contact may cause redness, itching and slight allergic irritation. Eye contact leads to burning pain and conjunctival congestion, requiring immediate flushing with plenty of water. Accidental ingestion may cause nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort. Operate in a well-ventilated fume hood, wear gloves, safety goggles and dust mask. Keep sealed, protected from light, stored in cool dry place, away from oxidants and strong acids. Waste and contaminated packaging should be disposed of as hazardous waste to prevent environmental pollution.
