Applications
2-Hydroxynicotinic acid is an important pyridine carboxylic acid heterocyclic intermediate, widely used in pharmaceutical synthesis, agrochemical research, organic synthesis and fine chemical industry. It contains hydroxyl and carboxyl functional groups on the pyridine ring, capable of undergoing esterification, amidation, substitution and cyclization reactions to construct various nitrogen-containing heterocyclic molecular skeletons. It is a key raw material for the synthesis of antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and cardiovascular drug intermediates. In agrochemical field, it is used for preparing high-efficiency herbicides, fungicides and plant growth regulators. It is also commonly adopted as a building block for organic synthetic methodology, chiral ligand preparation and custom fine chemical process development.
Safety Information
This pyridine derivative has mild irritancy and low acute toxicity. Inhalation of fine crystalline dust may irritate respiratory mucosa, causing sore throat and dry cough. Direct skin contact may lead to local redness, itching and slight inflammatory reaction; prolonged contact may cause skin dryness. Eye contact will induce burning pain and conjunctival congestion, requiring timely flushing with plenty of clean water. Accidental ingestion may cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea and abdominal distension. Operate in a well-ventilated fume hood, wear chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles and dust mask. Keep sealed, protected from light and stored in cool dry place, away from strong oxidants and strong alkalis. Waste residues and contaminated packaging should be disposed of as hazardous waste to prevent water and soil pollution.
