Applications
Octanoyl chloride is a typical aliphatic acyl chloride intermediate with high chemical activity. It is widely used in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical industry, pesticide manufacturing and fine chemical production. It mainly participates in acylation, esterification and amidation reactions to synthesize surfactants, perfume raw materials, pharmaceutical intermediates and pesticide additives. It is also applied in the preparation of plastic additives, lubricant raw materials and dye intermediates, serving as an essential acylation reagent in custom chemical synthesis and chemical process research.
Safety Information
This product is corrosive, irritant and fuming when exposed to moisture. Its vapor can severely irritate and damage respiratory tract, causing cough, chest pain and breathing discomfort. Skin contact will lead to corrosion, redness, blistering and burning pain. Eye contact may cause serious injury and even temporary vision loss. Ingestion will severely burn digestive tract and cause nausea, abdominal pain and poisoning symptoms. Operate strictly in a fully ventilated fume hood, wear acid-proof gloves, chemical safety goggles and gas mask. Keep tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and decomposition, store separately from water, alcohols, oxidants and alkalis. Waste liquid and contaminated packaging must be treated as hazardous waste to avoid corrosion, environmental pollution and personal injury risks.
