Applications
Bacitracin is a polypeptide antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and partial Gram-negative bacteria. It is widely used in pharmaceutical raw materials, veterinary medicine, feed additives and biological antibacterial preparations. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis to exert bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects, commonly applied for topical anti-infection, skin wound antisepsis and mucosal inflammation treatment. It is also extensively used in livestock and poultry breeding as a growth-promoting and antibacterial additive, as well as a key raw material in compound antibiotic formulations and biological preservative development.
Safety Information
This polypeptide antibiotic may cause mild irritation and allergic reactions to human body. Inhalation of dust can irritate respiratory tract, causing throat itching, cough and respiratory discomfort. Skin contact may induce redness, rash and allergic dermatitis, especially for sensitive groups. Eye contact leads to stinging, tearing and conjunctival inflammation, requiring immediate continuous rinsing with plenty of clean water. Accidental ingestion may cause nausea, abdominal discomfort and slight gastrointestinal reaction. Operate in well-ventilated environment or fume hood, wear dust mask, chemical-resistant gloves and safety goggles. Keep container tightly sealed, store in dry cool dark place, keep away from incompatible substances and food. Waste materials and contaminated packaging shall be disposed of according to local hazardous waste regulations to prevent environmental cross-contamination and allergic health risks.
