Applications
Methyl Phenyl Silicone Oil (CAS 63148-58-3) is a high-performance organosilicon fluid with excellent thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and low-temperature flexibility, widely used in industry, cosmetics, and electronics. As a high-temperature lubricant, it operates stably between -50 °C and 250 °C, ideal for high-speed bearings, gears, and precision machinery in aerospace and automotive sectors. In cosmetics, it acts as a skin-conditioning emollient in creams, lotions, and sunscreens, improving spreadability and imparting a silky feel without greasiness. It serves as a dielectric fluid in transformers, capacitors, and electronic components due to its high insulation and low dielectric loss. In plastics/rubber processing, it functions as a mold release agent and lubricant, enhancing surface finish and extending mold life. It is also used as a heat transfer fluid in laboratory heating baths and industrial cooling systems, and as an anti-foaming agent in chemical and food processing.
Safety Information
Methyl Phenyl Silicone Oil is a low-hazard substance (GHS07; H302, H315, H319, H335) with minimal acute toxicity. Inhalation of mist/vapor may cause mild respiratory irritation (cough, sore throat); ensure ventilation and wear a dust mask in enclosed spaces. Skin contact may cause slight redness or dryness in sensitive individuals; wear nitrile gloves and wash skin with soap and water after handling. Eye contact can lead to irritation (stinging, tearing); rinse eyes with running water for ≥15 minutes and seek medical advice if discomfort persists. Ingestion of large amounts may cause mild gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea); do not induce vomiting and consult a physician. It is non-carcinogenic and has good biocompatibility. Store away from heat, sparks, and strong oxidants. Dispose of waste per local hazardous waste regulations; avoid release to soil or water.
