Applications
Lornoxicam is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class, widely used in pharmaceutical field for analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. It acts by balanced inhibition of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and COX-2, reducing prostaglandin synthesis without affecting lipoxygenase pathway. Clinically, it relieves moderate to severe pain including postoperative pain, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, low back pain and cancer pain; also effective for fever reduction. Its advantages include rapid onset, long duration and high analgesic potency compared to other oxicams. In fine chemical industry, it serves as key intermediate for pharmaceutical synthesis.
