Tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol (CAS: 90-72-2), also known as DMP-30, is a versatile organic compound belonging to Mannich bases. It is a viscous liquid with a characteristic amine odor, widely used as a catalyst and curing agent in the polymer industry, especially for epoxy resin curing and polyurethane formation. It also serves as a trimerization catalyst for rigid polyisocyanurate, with good catalytic activity and delayed reaction performance.

Synthesis Method
- Raw Materials: Phenol, 40% aqueous dimethylamine solution, 37% aqueous formaldehyde solution (or paraformaldehyde).
- Synthesis Route: One-pot Mannich reaction – condensation of phenol, formaldehyde and dimethylamine, with electrophilic substitution on the phenol aromatic ring.
- Reaction Steps: Mix phenol and dimethylamine aqueous solution, cool to below 20 °C, add formaldehyde solution at below 30 °C, stir at 25–30 °C for 1 hour, then reflux at 90–95 °C for 2 hours, separate water phase with salt, and distill the oil phase under reduced pressure to obtain the product.
