Lapatinib, also known as GW572016 or GSK 572016, is a yellow crystalline solid and a small-molecule targeted antineoplastic agent of the 4-anilinoquinazoline kinase inhibitor class. It selectively inhibits the intracellular tyrosine kinase domains of ERBB1 (EGFR) and HER2/neu (ERBB2) receptors.
Uses
It is mainly used in the treatment of advanced or metastatic breast cancer, usually in combination with capecitabine or letrozole. Its targeted anti-tumor effect is achieved by inhibiting the activity of ERBB1 and HER2/neu receptors.
