Description
Lactobionic acid (CAS: 96-82-2) is an aldonic acid with the molecular formula C??H??O?? and average molecular weight 358.30. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder (purity ≥98.0% Titration), odorless and slightly hygroscopic, composed of one molecule of galactose and one molecule of gluconic acid, which can be produced by lactose oxidation pathway in Pseudomonas. It has antioxidant, moisturizing and metal chelating properties, and is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food and biomedical fields. It is low-toxic but slightly irritating, so it should be stored in a sealed and cool environment to prevent agglomeration and ensure product stability and usability.
