Appearance
Light orange to deep orange waxy solid, odorless, with uniform color and no visible impurities. It has a waxy texture at room temperature, softens slightly when warmed, and becomes a viscous liquid at temperatures above 45°C. The pure product is bright orange, while the industrial grade may appear slightly darker. It is insoluble in water but dissolves readily in organic solvents, forming clear orange solutions.
Physical Properties
Melting point: 41-43°C (lit.), low melting point, waxy solid at room temperature, and stable when stored below 30°C. Boiling point: Predicted to be 826.8±65.0°C (760 mmHg), extremely high boiling point, and decomposes before reaching boiling point under normal pressure, releasing small molecular compounds.
Density: 0.97±0.1 g/cm3 (25°C, predicted), typical lipid-soluble density, stable in solid state under normal temperature and pressure. Solubility: Insoluble in water; soluble in ether, acetone, benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents; slightly soluble in ethanol. Solubility in organic solvents increases significantly with temperature.
Other properties: It is light-sensitive, and long-term exposure to strong light will cause decomposition and discoloration; it has no corrosiveness, is stable in dry air, and is not easy to volatilize; the refractive index is roughly estimated at 1.5200; it is a lipid-soluble antioxidant, widely present in cell membranes.

1. Oxidation-Reduction Activity: As a benzoquinone derivative, it has reversible oxidation-reduction properties, can accept and donate electrons, and plays a key role in the mitochondrial electron transport chain.
2. Stability: Stable under normal temperature and dry conditions; stable to weak acids and weak bases; unstable under strong light and high temperature (above 60°C), and easy to decompose; not easy to be oxidized by common oxidants in dark environment.
3. Reactivity: It can undergo addition, substitution and other reactions; the quinone ring can react with reducing agents to form hydroquinone; the isoprenyl side chain can undergo cyclization and oxidation reactions.
4. Incompatibility: Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and strong reducing agents; avoid mixed storage to prevent chemical reactions; stable when mixed with common organic solvents and lipid-soluble substances.

Storage
Store in a sealed container, keep away from light, heat and moisture; store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse, the recommended storage temperature is 2-8°C, and refrigerated storage is preferred. It should be stored separately from oxidants, reducing agents and other incompatible substances, and should not be mixed for storage; avoid long-term exposure to strong light to prevent decomposition and discoloration. The storage period can reach 1-2 years under proper storage conditions.
