Uses
Dipropylene glycol is a versatile hydrophilic solvent and humectant widely used in cosmetics, fragrances, coatings, and industrial synthesis. In cosmetics and fragrances, it acts as a carrier, solubilizer, and stabilizer, enhancing fragrance longevity and formula stability, and can be used in moisturizers, cleansers, perfumes, foundations, lipsticks and other products. In coatings and inks, it serves as a high-boiling solvent to improve flow, gloss, and film formation. In industrial applications, it is used as a chemical intermediate for esterification and etherification reactions, a plasticizer, an antifreeze agent, and a lubricant additive, also used in synthetic detergents and textile auxiliaries. Additionally, it functions as a desiccant, heat transfer fluid, and defoamer, with good compatibility and low toxicity for sensitive applications, and can also be used as a solvent for vegetable oils, resins and paraffins.
Packaging & Storage
Packaging: Laboratory grade: 500mL/1L amber glass bottles with Teflon seals to prevent moisture absorption and light exposure. Industrial grade: 200kg/215kg plastic drums, 1000kg IBC totes, 22-ton ISO tanks, labeled with "Combustible Liquid", "Hygroscopic" and GHS hazard information. Storage: Keep in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse; maintain tight closure to avoid moisture and air ingress; separate from strong oxidants; shelf life 24 months under recommended conditions. Handle with gloves, goggles, and protective clothing; use in ventilated areas to avoid vapor inhalation; wash skin thoroughly after contact; if splashed into eyes, rinse with flowing water for 10-15 minutes and seek medical help; if there is a leakage, use sand, vermiculite or other inert materials to absorb, and properly dispose of waste; do not ingest; store away from fire and heat sources, and use explosion-proof ventilation equipment during operation.
