Uses
Disodium edetate dihydrate (CAS 6381-92-6) is a highly efficient and versatile chelating agent, which can form stable octahedral complexes with various metal ions (such as Ca2?, Mg2?, Fe3?, Cu2?, Zn2?), and is widely used in molecular biology, medicine, food, industry and other fields. In molecular biology and biochemistry, it is used as a metal protease inhibitor (effective concentration 1-10 μM), which can chelate metal ions in the active site of metalloproteases to inhibit the activity of DNase, RNase and other metal-dependent enzymes, maintaining the stability and integrity of biological samples; it is also used in electrophoresis buffers, cell digestion, sample depolymerization and cell culture media to chelate metal ions and prevent cell toxicity. In medicine, it is used as an anticoagulant (common concentration 1.5 mg/mL blood) to chelate calcium ions in blood and prevent blood coagulation; it is also used as an auxiliary reagent for the treatment of heavy metal poisoning, helping to promote the excretion of heavy metals from the body. In the food industry, it is used as a natural preservative, antioxidant and color protectant, which can prevent food discoloration, deterioration and oxidation, extend the shelf life of food, and is widely added to canned food, condiments, beverages, meat products and edible oils. In industry, it is used in water treatment to remove metal ions in water; it is used in textile dyeing, electroplating, papermaking and leather processing to prevent metal precipitation and regulate reaction speed; it is also used in detergents and cleaning agents to enhance cleaning effect.
Packaging & Storage
Packaging: Laboratory grade: 10g, 50g, 100g, 500g sealed plastic bottles or brown glass bottles to prevent moisture absorption; industrial grade: 1kg, 5kg, 25kg HDPE drums or aluminum foil bags with inner PE liners, labeled with product name, CAS number, batch number, manufacturing date, expiry date, purity and storage precautions. Storage: Store at room temperature (15-30°C) in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse; keep tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption, caking and contamination; avoid humid environment and direct sunlight; do not mix with toxic, harmful and oxidizing substances. Shelf life: 24 months under recommended sealed storage conditions; use as soon as possible after opening to avoid moisture absorption and performance degradation. Transportation: Avoid transportation under rain, humidity and high temperature; prevent collision and damage to packaging; do not transport together with incompatible substances; no special low-temperature transportation is required, and normal temperature transportation is acceptable. Handling: Operate in a well-ventilated area; avoid inhalation of powder and contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes; wear dust-proof gloves, goggles and protective clothing during operation; wash skin thoroughly with soap and water after contact; if splashed into eyes, rinse with plenty of flowing water for 10-15 minutes and seek medical help in time; if swallowed, call a poison center or doctor immediately.
