Uses
2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione is also well known as Meldrum's acid, with strong acidity and active methylene structure. It is widely used in fine chemical and organic synthesis industry.
It is commonly applied in Knoevenagel condensation reaction, used for the synthesis of various substituted heterocyclic compounds, β-keto esters and organic intermediates. In pharmaceutical industry, it acts as an important building block for the preparation of anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and central nervous system drug intermediates.
In agrochemical field, it is used for the synthesis of fungicides, herbicides and pesticide intermediates. It can also be used in the preparation of functional organic materials, dyes and chemical analytical reagents.
