N-Pentadecane is a colorless, transparent liquid at room temperature, with a mild hydrocarbon odor. It is insoluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, and miscible with most organic solvents. It is stable under normal temperature and pressure, with strong chemical inertness, but sensitive to high temperature and strong oxidants, and may decompose or react violently under extreme conditions. Its density is 0.769 g/cm3 (25°C), boiling point is 270°C, melting point is 8-10°C, flash point (closed) is 132.2°C, refractive index (n20/D) is 1.431. It is non-hygroscopic, flammable, and needs to be stored properly to avoid volatilization and contamination.
