Phenol undergoes alkylation with isobutene under aluminum phenoxide catalytic condition, then rectification and recrystallization purification to obtain high-purity propofol.

- Pharmaceutical API (Core Use): Short-acting intravenous general anesthetic, acts on GABA-A receptor; fast onset, short duration, low accumulation, rapid postoperative recovery. Widely used for general anesthesia induction/maintenance, ICU sedation, painless minor surgery sedation.
