- Oxidation: Oxidized to geranial (citral a) under mild oxidants; over-oxidation generates carboxylic acid
- Hydrogenation: Catalytic hydrogenation yields tetrahydrogeraniol
- Acid & Alkali Stability: Stable under neutral & weak alkaline conditions; long exposure to strong acid triggers cyclization to menthol derivatives
- Thermal Stability: Slight oxidation & discoloration above 150°C; avoid long-time high-temperature heating
