Chemical Properties
- Molecular structure: Two phenol groups linked by isopropylidene bridge, each benzene ring has active phenolic hydroxyl group
- Phenolic hydroxyl reactivity: Reacts with alkali to generate bisphenol A salt; undergoes esterification, etherification reaction
- Polycondensation reaction: Core monomer reacting with phosgene to produce polycarbonate (PC); condenses with epichlorohydrin to synthesize epoxy resin
- Electrophilic substitution: Benzene ring easily undergoes bromination, nitration, alkylation at ortho position of hydroxyl
- Thermal stability: Stable below 180°C; above 220°C slight thermal decomposition, releases small molecular fragments
- Acid-base stability: Stable under neutral and weak acidic conditions; fully dissolved and ionized in strong alkaline liquid; concentrated strong acid triggers cleavage of isopropylidene bridge
- Photostability: Long-term UV irradiation causes slight yellowing and oxidative degradation; light-proof storage required
- Compatibility: Compatible with most organic solvents and resin monomers; incompatible with strong oxidants, concentrated strong alkali

Polycarbonate plastic raw material
The largest consumption field. Polymerize with phosgene to make transparent high-strength PC plastic, used for water cups, baby bottles, food storage containers, optical lenses, automotive lamp covers, electronic instrument shells, bulletproof glass sheets. Features high transparency, impact resistance, high heat resistance.

Epoxy resin monomer
Condensate with epichlorohydrin to produce bisphenol A type epoxy resin. Widely used in anticorrosive coatings for steel pipelines, metal anti-rust paint, electronic component packaging glue, circuit board insulating resin, adhesive, floor self-leveling coating. Excellent adhesion, corrosion resistance and electrical insulation.

Polyester resin & unsaturated polyester modifier
Added as modifier to improve resin hardness, heat resistance and mechanical strength; applied in glass fiber reinforced plastic products, handicraft casting resin, automotive composite parts.

Flame retardant intermediate
Raw material for brominated bisphenol A, a common reactive flame retardant for PC, ABS, epoxy resin, effectively improving material fire resistance without serious migration.

Used as color developing agent in thermal printing paper for supermarket receipts, logistics labels, cash register paper; reacts with leuco dye under heating to form black printed text.
