Physical Properties
- Appearance: White crystalline granular powder
- Odor: Slight acetic acid odor
- Solubility: Easily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol; slightly soluble in acetone; insoluble in ether, benzene
- Density (25℃): 1.84 g/cm3
- Melting Point: Decomposes at about 237℃ without fixed melting point
- pH value (10% aqueous solution): 6.0–7.5, weakly acidic
- Hygroscopy: Slightly hygroscopic, absorbs moisture in humid air to form dihydrate zinc acetate
- Crystal characteristic: Anhydrous crystal, easily recrystallized from ethanol-water mixed solvent
- Boiling property: Decomposes before boiling, releases acetic acid vapor at high temperature
Chemical Properties
- Salt property: Weak acid weak base salt formed by acetic acid and zinc oxide/zinc carbonate
- Hydrolysis reaction: Slow hydrolysis in aqueous solution to produce trace zinc hydroxide and acetic acid
- Thermal decomposition: Decompose above 230℃ into zinc oxide, acetic acid and ketone by-products
- Reaction with alkali: Reacts with sodium hydroxide, ammonia water to generate white zinc hydroxide precipitate, excess strong alkali dissolves precipitate to form zincate
- Reaction with carbonate: Produces white zinc carbonate precipitate when mixed with sodium carbonate solution
- Chelation performance: Acetate ligand can form soluble complexes with transition metal ions
- Photostability: Stable under normal light; long-term strong light will slightly turn gray
- Compatibility: Compatible with neutral/weak acidic raw materials; incompatible with strong alkali, phosphate, sulfide, strong oxidants
