Chemical Properties

1. Dual functional structure: Contains hydroxyl (-OH) and secondary butoxy ether group, combines the properties of alcohol and ether solvents
2. Hydroxyl reactivity: Undergoes esterification, dehydration and etherification with carboxylic acids, acid anhydrides under heating and catalyst conditions
3. Ether bond stability: Stable under neutral and weakly alkaline environments; concentrated strong acid under high temperature will break ether bonds to generate small molecule alcohols and olefins
4. Oxidation tendency: Long-term exposure to air will slowly oxidize to form peroxides, aldehydes and other impurities; must be tightly sealed for storage
5. Thermal stability: Stable below 140℃; above boiling point slight thermal decomposition occurs
6. Acid-base compatibility: Stable in weak acid and weak alkali systems; violent reaction with strong oxidants such as potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide
7. Weak surface activity: Slightly reduces the surface tension of aqueous solutions, improves wetting and permeating performance
8. Compatibility: Miscible with most synthetic resins, surfactants and oily raw materials; incompatible with concentrated strong acid, strong oxidants and active alkali metals

3. Main Application Fields

1. Waterborne coatings coalescing agent (Core Application)

   High boiling point slow-evaporation film-forming auxiliary for water-based acrylic latex paint, waterborne polyurethane coatings, architectural latex paints. It effectively lowers the minimum film-forming temperature of coatings, enhances coating leveling, gloss and smoothness, and eliminates film defects such as pinholes and cracking.
2. Printing ink solvent

   Solvent for water-based gravure ink, plastic printing ink and screen ink. Dissolves resin binders, adjusts drying speed, improves ink permeability and printing sharpness, prevents ink blocking.
3. Industrial cleaning agent solvent

   Key raw material for metal degreasers, circuit board water-based cleaning fluids and heavy oil detergents. Dissolves lubricating oil, cutting fluid and resin dirt without corroding metal, plastic and rubber substrates.
4. Brake fluid & hydraulic liquid additive

   Used as viscosity regulator and antifreeze auxiliary for glycol-based brake fluid, improves low-temperature fluidity and lubricating performance of hydraulic transmission systems.
5. Daily chemical & cosmetic solubilizer

   Solubilizing component for plant essence, skin care emulsions and household cleaners; promotes mutual dissolution of oil-soluble and water-soluble raw materials to stabilize product system.
6. Organic synthesis high-boiling solvent

   Polar inert solvent for esterification, polycondensation and condensation reactions; good solubility for organic catalysts, polymer monomers and intermediate products.
