- Complexation: Sulfur lone electron pair can coordinate with transition metal ions (Pd, Pt, Ag)
- Thermal stability: Stable below 160 ℃; high temperature cracking produces mercaptan, alkane fragments
- Halogenation: Reacts with chlorine, bromine to form sulfonium halide salts
- Acid-base stability: Neutral substance, stable in dilute acid/alkali; decomposed by concentrated strong oxidizing acid
