Chemical Properties
- Molecular structure: Straight-chain aliphatic diol with hydroxyl groups at both ends of C8 alkane chain
- Esterification reaction: Two hydroxyl groups can react with monocarboxylic acid / dicarboxylic acid to generate monoester, diester and polyester
- Etherification: React with alkyl halide to form diether derivatives under alkaline catalysis
- Dehydration: Dehydrate under strong acid heating to form cyclic ether or octadiene
- Oxidation: Oxidized to octanedial or octanedioic acid by strong oxidants
- Thermal stability: Stable below 220 ℃; high temperature above 290 ℃ cracking occurs
- Compatibility: Compatible with polar solvents, polyols, resin monomers; avoid long-term contact with strong oxidants and concentrated strong acid
