- Appearance: Colorless transparent crystalline flake or white crystal
- Odor: Odorless, slight sweet taste
- Solubility: Freely soluble in water, glycerol; soluble in dilute ethanol; insoluble in absolute ethanol, ether

Chemical Properties
- Molecular structure: Divalent lead combined with two acetate radicals, carrying three crystal water molecules
- Dehydration characteristic: Heating above 75 °C gradually loses crystal water to form anhydrous lead acetate; decomposed above 200 °C to release acetic acid and lead oxide
- Ion reaction: Pb2+ reacts with sulfate, chloride, sulfide to generate insoluble lead salt precipitates; can form complex with excess acetate
- Photostability: Light-sensitive; long-term light exposure turns gray due to partial reduction to elemental lead
- Thermal stability: Stable at room temperature sealed state; high temperature decomposes to release irritating acetic acid fumes and toxic lead-containing dust
- Compatibility: Compatible with weak acid aqueous solution; incompatible with alkalis, sulfides, sulfate, strong oxidants
